Francis II, King of the Two Sicilies 1859-1861

MIR 537, PCGS-graded MS-63

The obverse depicts plain head left with crowned arms on the reverse. Unusually choice for this scarce issue, the king’s image quite bold in details, with lovely iridescent toning.

Francis II was the last King of the Two Sicilies (1859-1861). After he was deposed, the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and the Kingdom of Sardinia were merged into the newly formed Kingdom of Italy.
