Coin Number 21
A monumental gem that offers rich radiant mint frost and dazzling luster. The surfaces are virtually pristine with so few signs of handling and are free of all but the most minute nicks or ticks. The strike is generally sharp, and the devices offer welcome study into their intricate nuances so well delivered by the dies. This is another classic rarity with only 12 to 14 pieces known in all for the die pairing, this one clearly the finest of that select group. This is truly one of the finest early gold coins in existence and a phenoninal example of this rare issue. This is the first obverse die engraved with a new larger star punch, with the eighth star punched in with clockwise rotation. The obverse die went on to strike the BD-10, or Taraszka-22 variety, after this brief die marriage. An extraordinary coin that has incredible appeal and glorious surfaces.
