Coin Number 20

This is another frosty, near Gem mint state Capped Bust eagle. The strike is sharp despite this being a later die state of the obverse die used on the previous coin. The obverse in fact, looks like the die was buckled and somewhat wavy. The reverse has multiple cracks mostly through the legends. One crosses down from the rim through MER of AMERICA. This coin is likely one of the very finest of this variety, and would stand tall to represent the date or type as so few exist this well preserved. The fields and devices show only a few scattered light ticks, and the eye appeal is undiminished. This is the last appearance of the Small Stars obverse die(s) which are represented by eight different die pairings of 1799.
