Coin Number 28

We continue with the varieties with the Small Reverse stars with this delightfully choice coin. The surfaces are bathed in frosty luster and the strike is generally sharp. There are a trace of light adjustment marks on the reverse, seen on the lower left side and upper right. The reverse die used was left over from 1801, with the star nearly touching the upper portion of Liberty’s beak and the right foot of the E of STATES over the space between two clouds. A fairly available die pairing with estimates of survival in the 150 to 200 known examples today. Here is one that is quite attractive.
