This is probably the second finest of this date and mint, a coin that is alone in the MS-63 category and a handsome choice mint state coin it is! The surfaces are excellent with just a few minor reeding marks from brief bag handling – one behind Liberty’s eye, another low on her neck, and the last nearby in the left obverse field. Satin smooth and lustrous, and a very pretty example of this low mintage (16,013 pieces) of which perhaps about 130-150 survive to this day. A splendid example of this elusive date that is virtually unheard of in Choice or finer grades.
