Here’s an amazing find from the S.S. Republic shipwreck. Only 2,300 were struck for this year at the New Orleans Mint, of which perhaps 50 to 60 are known today. This one was recovered from the shipwreck, as bright and fresh as the day it was struck. It is the only 1859-O with full mint state status. This was certainly one of the most fantastic coins recovered from that wreck. Glittering luster in the fields, bright yellow-gold color and a solid strike. An amazing condition rarity!
