This is the finest example certified by PCGS of this rare and desirable issue. Only 9,000 were struck, and from that group about 50 are around today. This one offers a bold strike, much of the original luster intact, and excellent surfaces and eye appeal. Note the continued used of the tiny “S” mintmark at the tip of the arrow feather on the reverse. Close scrutiny will find a few trace hairlines from circulation and handling, but this is as nice as anyone could hope to find. This is one of the rarest dates in the entire series, and one which is unknown in mint state.
