Cert #8658 50111288

Coin Number 127

This is one of the most sought after dates as it is the first year of issue from the famed Carson City Mint. Only 5,908 pieces were struck of which 60 to 70 survive today. Clearly in the top half dozen or so known from that Mint. The surfaces show the usual moderate handling marks from even the briefest of circulation in the Wild West. Residual luster is found around the stars and lettering. The strike on these is always a bit soft at the centers, as seen here on Liberty’s lovelock and the eagle. Solid eye appeal for this coveted date and mint, and a fantastic representative of this first year of Carson City coinage.
