Cert #8661 29583070
Coin Number 131
This is one of the most important coins in this collection in terms of desirability and rarity. It is probably the only mint state 1871-CC that exists aside from an MS-60 reported by NGC. The surfaces are attractive with scattered light handling marks, but the strong luster alleviates any attention to them. This one came out of Europe before 1995 when it was offered in Heritage’s March Midwinter ANA sale that year. Flashing with rich greenish gold, the eye appeal is simply incredible and stunning. A total of 8,086 were struck in the second year of Carson City Mint operations, of which 105 to 120 exist today. This one tops them all with ease.
