Cert #8662 29583071
Coin Number 132
This is the finest example of this date and mint. It is the only AU-58 graded by PCGS, and while there are four others reported at this grade level by NGC, this particular coin stands tall for its luster, surfaces and strike. Mintage of 16,500 pieces, this is one of about 80 known today. If one must find something to discuss, there is an ancient old cut from above the second 1 across the tip of Liberty’s truncation into the field behind her head, which serves to identify this amazing coin. Her face and the open fields are pleasing and attractive. Notice too, the tiniest little faint “S” mintmark on the reverse, which seems to scarcely announce its origins when compared to the bugle call of the large “S” seen on most reverse dies of earlier San Francisco issues.
