Proof mintage this year was a scant 43 pieces, today the number extant is believed to be 20 to 24 pieces. This one offers at least the Cameo contrast and perhaps would be judged Deep Cameo if resubmitted. The frost is heaped high on the devices and the boldly mirrored fields seem to fall away from the stars and head of Liberty. A majestic gem that shows exceptionally careful preservation and glorious contrast.
