Coin Number 259

This is a classic circulation strike Washington Quarter. These were launched in 1932, and were essentially unchanged when this 1939 was struck. Notice the head of Washington facing left, his regal bust and features showing wisdom and strength. Toned with light gold around the edge, and with nearly perfect fields and devices. The reverse is matching in quality and strike, with the eagle bold and inspiring, and legends sharp and clear. Washington quarters have had one of the longest runs in American coinage, next year will mark their 90th year of production! Only the Lincoln cent tops that, but it had an earlier start and is still being struck today.
