A 266, Very Fine

.
The ‘Abbasid caliph al-Mustanjid (AH 555-566/ AD 1160-1170) survived an assassination attempt orchestrated by his stepmother, who wanted her blood son in power. The overthrow of the Shi’ite Fatimids of Egypt at this time by Saladin, the Muslim champion of the Crusades, strengthened the position the Sunni ‘Abbasids in Baghdad.
