Aethelberht, King of Wessex 858-865/6 AD
Probably Canterbury Mint. Encircled portrait facing right, body and shoulders below circle; reverse, inscribed beaded cross, moneyer’s name Cunefreth within horizontal cross-bar.
Faintest wear, well detailed with a crude portrait, on a broad flan of good metal with full beaded rims, choice surfaces, ancient greenish gray patina.
