Charles I, Stuart King, 1625-1649

Crowned and armored half-length portrait facing right, holding large orb and scepter; reverse, crowned shield with Scots crest in two quadrants, crowned “CR” split at sides. Third Coinage of 1637-1642 struck by Nicholas Briot. Thistle mintmark behind king’s crown. A wonderfully lustrous, well-detailed coin on a full, broad flan of lovely gold color, an ideal specimen.
