Milan
Hugo of Provence, King of Italy 926-948
Biaggi 1397 (R3), PCGS-graded MS-62
Obverse depicts a monogram with two lines on the reverse. Coins from the last period of Carolingian rule in Italy. Struck at Milan; choice and really pleasing.
He was a BOSONID. He empowered his relatives at the expense of the aristocracy. He showed some culture in an age of an otherwise barbaric century.
