Giovanni Soranzo, Doge of Venice 1312-1328

Fr-1218, PCGS-graded MS-63

Obverse depicts St. Mark standing right presenting banner to kneeling Doge. On the reverse Christ standing facing within stars, holding the gospel and raising hand in benediction. Unusually bold on each side, a wonderful ducat.

Giovanni Soranzo was a career diplomat, who came from a prominent political family, and took his turn as Doge. He accomplished little in sixteen years.
