George I, Hanover King 1714-1727
First Bust. This first date of the new reign includes in its reverse legend (of the royal titles) the letters “PR” referring to the German-born Prince Elector of Hanover. It appears on no other Guineas of this reign. The royal titles begin on the obverse and continue on the reverse, giving abbreviations in Latin for all of the first King George’s English and German titles. This coin is one of the finest known examples of one of the most famous issues in the golden Guinea series, begun in 1663 and ending in 1813.
A beautiful coin, well struck and having intense luster offset by reddish gold toning.
