George I, Hanover King 1714-1727
SSC in angles on reverse. Laureate Bust, the only style of portrait used on Crowns. Struck from silver provided to the Royal Mint by the South Sea Company of London, and bearing its famous initials.
A beautiful example of this classic coin, minted in only one year, sharply struck across both sides and with high rims, choice surfaces, and lovely old-cabinet brownish gray patina.
