George II, Hanover King 1727-1760
First Young Bust. Struck on a slightly smaller and thicker flan. Larger letters in legends; more compact Royal Shield. In the royal titles, the king’s father’s title of Prince Elector (“PR”) has given way to simply Elector (“E” at the end of the titles on reverse).
Perhaps the finest known Guinea of this king, with nearly perfect satiny surfaces and full details in the design. Just magnificent. Among guineas graded, of all kinds, this coin stands alone for sheer technical quality as well as eye-appeal.
