Charles III the Short, King of Naples 1382-1386

MIR 37, Pannuti-Riccio 1, PCGS-graded AU-55

Ancient encrustations; well centered and struck overall.

Charles was the first member of the Anjou-Durazzo family to acquire the throne of Naples, by expelling his cousin Joanna I in 1381, but he himself was assassinated by distant family members only a few years later. His sons both became kings of Naples, but they died without having sons, ending Angevin rule in Naples.
