Sicily

Charles II (Holy Roman Emperor Charles V), King of Sicily and Naples 1516-1556

Spahr 4; Fr-663, PCGS-graded AU-50

Obverse depicts the Cross of St. Andrew. On the reverse a crowned shield with eagle. Perfectly centered portrait, well detailed throughout, a pleasing example of this rarity.

Even though the Renaissance was settling over Europe at the time of this reign, this coin is distinctly medieval in character.
