Harold, King of all England 1035-1040 AD

London mint, moneyer Eadwold. Diademed portrait facing left; reverse, “jewel cross”, a cross composed of 4 ovals joined at the base by 2 circles enclosing a pellet. Rare. Minted Spring 1036 to 1038, when Harold was joint ruler with Harthacnut.

Somewhat crudely engraved, on a full broad flan showing ancient encrustation beneath silvery gray patina.
