Henry I, Norman King of England 1100-1135
Bury St. Edmunds mint, moneyer Godric. Crowned portrait facing left, holding scepter; reverse, star in lozenge fleury (a central diamond or sideways square curving inward, a fleur at each angle or tip, and a trefoil of annulets on each of four sides). Rare.
Struck on an irregularly shaped flan (normal for this period) with a remarkable image of the king, reverse shadowy from strike and possibly from a worn die, silvery gray patina, ideal on the obverse side.
