Henry VII, Tudor King 1485-1509
Tower mint, London. Lis mintmark (obverse), Pheon mintmark (reverse). King facing in long flowing robes, holding orb and scepter, seated on a narrow throne with a portcullis under his feet, high canopy and two elaborately decorated arms to the throne. Very rare. One of the great treasures of the Tyrant Collection.
A superbly detailed specimen, on an essentially perfect, broad flan with no flaws or abuse, the images and legends evenly impressed, the image of the king extraordinarily detailed and all letters of the legends showing fully within a high outer rim, sheathed in marvelous original gold color.
