Richard I, Plantagenet King 1189-1199
Canterbury mint, moneyer Ulard. Central facing bearded portrait, crowned, holding scepter, legend in the name of Henry; reverse, small central (short) cross, quatrefoil in each angle.
On a full broad flan but typically struck showing much unevenness of detail in legends, the portrait unusually sharp, as is the Short Cross, all sheathed in golden gray patina.
