Obverse depicts St. Mark standing right presenting banner to kneeling Doge. On the reverse Christ standing facing within stars, holding the gospel and raising hand in benediction. Sharp details and excellent centering with choice surfaces. Of the Highest Rarity, the finest of only 2 known.
Also known as Giovanni Cornaro, this doge was so corrupt that he attempted to turn Venice into his family’s private country. Beginning in 1628, Venice suffered a civil war until his death in 1629.
